 Gangatia Zamindar's House

The Zamindari system has been abolished long ago, but Gangatia Jamidar Bari (Gangatia Jamidar Bari) located in Gobindpur Union in Hossainpur Upazila of Kishoreganj district has stood tall as a witness of the times. To the locals, the house is better known as 'Manob Babur Bari' after the present heir of the zamindar dynasty, Manabendra Chakraborty Chowdhury. This zamindar house, a symbol of ancient civilization, was built according to 18th century Greek architecture. The ornate house has a kachari house, nahabatkhana, court house and temple. Also, surrounded by a high wall, the Gangatia zamindar's house has a pond and a large green courtyard. All the structures, except the Kacharighar, are almost destroyed today, but every year people from different walks of life come to see the zamindar's house from far and wide to see the ancient architectural style of construction.

History of Gangatia zamindar house :--

It is known from history that the ancestors of Dinanath Chakraborty were a classical scholar of the Brahman tribe. They started settling near the Shiva temple south of the present zamindar's house in the 18th century. The journey of this present zamindar house started in the late 16th century with the help of Dinanath Chakraborty. He bought the first part of Hussainshahi Pargana from the English and started the first zamindari. Later, Babu Atul Chandra Chakraborty included Gangatia zamindar house from Gyanada Sundari Chowdhurani, zamindar of eighteen houses in 'Pattani' formula. During the British rule, the people of this area made special progress in education, culture and literary pursuits.

In addition to this house, Manab Babu has a huge fish project one and a half kilos away from the zamindar's house. There you can effortlessly spend some beautiful time with nature.
